Copper Signals Strengthen in Botswana’s Kalahari Belt

Serval Resources Plc has taken an early but meaningful step in positioning itself within one of the world’s most prospective copper frontiers, releasing initial geophysical results from licences PL082 and PL231 in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt. The findings reinforce both the geological potential of the region and the company’s exploration approach as it advances toward drill-ready targets.

The programmes mark Serval’s first integrated geophysical campaign across the two licences, combining ground magnetics, time domain electromagnetic (TDEM) and Audio-Magnetotellurics (AMT). This multi-method strategy is particularly critical in the Kalahari, where prospective copper-silver mineralisation is concealed beneath varying depths of sand cover, requiring precision tools to map subsurface structures.

Initial results from PL082, strategically located along strike from Cobre Limited’s Ngami Project, are especially encouraging. Despite geological complexity caused by Karoo volcanic sequences, the data indicates that underlying Kalahari Copper Belt formations remain detectable. Clear conductive and resistive zones have been identified, pointing to potential contacts between the Ngwako Pan and D’Kar formations, widely recognised as key hosts for mineralisation in the region. These zones are now expected to anchor the company’s next phase of exploration.

At PL231, located along the Namibian border, interpretation of AMT data has revealed an anticlinal structure in the northern section of the licence. These  formations are considered prime structural traps for mineral deposits in the Kalahari Copper Belt, significantly elevating the area’s exploration priority. In addition, the surveys have mapped variations in sand cover depth, ranging from approximately 20 metres in the north to 90 metres in the south, providing critical insight for deploying soil geochemistry and refining targeting strategies.

Beyond individual targets, the programme has delivered a broader validation of Serval’s exploration model. Ground-based magnetic data has refined previously identified regional features with greater accuracy, confirming both their positioning and structural continuity. The integration of magnetic, TDEM and AMT datasets has proven complementary, strengthening confidence in the company’s ability to identify mineralised systems beneath challenging cover conditions.

The Chief Executive Officer, Robin Birchall underscored the significance of the results, noting, ” I am very pleased with the speed at which our team has completed these first geophysical programmes in the KCB, in accordance with the work requirements of our licences and analysed the results. This limited amount of work has provided the Company with valuable information about the exploration methodology required for exploration success in the KCB, and possible targets on these two licence areas. The Company will utilise the funds raised as part of the recent listing on AIM to move forward with the exploration programmes in order to generate drill ready targets in due course.”

The results position Serval at an inflection point. With early indicators of favourable geology, defined structural targets and a validated exploration toolkit, the company is now moving toward the next critical phase of drilling. In a region gaining increasing global attention for its role in future copper supply, the ability to translate geophysical promise into proven resources will be key. As demand for copper accelerates, driven by electrification, renewable energy and global infrastructure, the Kalahari Copper Belt continues to emerge as a strategic asset. Serval’s early progress suggests it intends to be part of that story.
