Botswana and De Beers are scheduled to formally sign new agreements next week, according to a communiqué issued this week.
The development comes after conclusion of negotiations focused on the renewal of a sales agreement for the sorting, valuing, marketing and sales of Debswana diamonds and extension of Debswana mining licences.
According to a statement from the ministry of minerals and energy, the conclusion of the negotiations marks a commitment by the partners to partnership that has lasted over a half a century.
The communiqué further indicated that the parties will hold the signing ceremony on Tuesday.
