DE BEERS DONATES TO MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS

De Beers Group has donated a PCR testing machine worth 1.7 million pula to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Receiving the donation at the National Health Laboratory recently, the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Lemogang Kwape thanked Debeers for the good gesture saying the machine will help speed up testing for coronavirus and lowering the workload on members of staff.

“Our testing capability is going to go up, thus making the job easier at the health lab,” he said.

Handing over the equipment, the De Beers Stakeholder Relations Specialist Ms Tlamelo Kebalatetse said De Beers heeded government’s call for donations to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. She added that the donated testing machine comes with a refrigerator for keeping samples.

The Assistant Minister in the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Dumisweni Mthinkhulu applauded De Beers for the donation. He also thanked all the companies, organisations and Batswana who have contributed to the relief fund. He appealed to Batswana to follow the precautions put in place by the Ministry of Health and Wellness to help curb the spread of the virus.
