Lucara Seals Landmark Sale of Two Spectacular Diamonds

The historic sale of two extraordinary diamonds from the world-renowned Karowe Mine in Botswana has been completed by Lucara Diamond Corp. The final payment and delivery of the legendary 549-carat Sethunya and the breathtaking 1,080-carat Eva Star mark one of the most significant diamond transactions in recent history.

Both diamonds, recovered from Karowe’s prolific South Lobe, reinforce the mine’s reputation as a premier source of large, high-value gems. The Sethunya, unearthed in 2021, and the Eva Star, discovered in 2023, exemplify the exceptional quality and scale of stones that continue to emerge from this unique kimberlite deposit.

“The sale of these remarkable diamonds underscores the tremendous value of our investment in the Karowe underground project. The consistent recovery of such exceptional stones speaks to the extraordinary mineralogy of Karowe’s South Lobe, which continues to yield Type IIa diamonds of remarkable clarity and size,” said William Lamb, President and CEO of Lucara.

Lucara secured a combined total of $54.0 million for the two diamonds, recognising $44.0 million in revenue net of fees, excluding royalties. The Company had previously received $20.0 million, with the remaining $24.0 million settled across Q4 2024 and Q1 2025, receiving $16.0 million and $8.0 million, respectively.

This latest transaction reaffirms Karowe’s standing as a leading source of some of the world’s most coveted diamonds, further strengthening Lucara’s position in the global diamond industry.
