Botswana Minerals has reported encouraging early-stage results from an integrated geological and AI-enhanced exploration analysis across its copper prospecting licences in north-west Botswana, with the work identifying multiple target systems prospective for copper, silver, zinc, lead, nickel and cobalt.
The AIM-listed company has defined two principal exploration models from the analysis. The first comprises anomalies carrying copper, silver, nickel and cobalt signatures consistent with potential Besshi-type volcanogenic massive sulphide systems. The second is a continuous geochemical corridor stretching approximately 20 kilometres, interpreted as consistent with Mississippi Valley-type lead/zinc mineralisation.
Hyperspectral analysis has added a further dimension, identifying iron oxide and clay alteration zones that the company believes may represent surface expressions of underlying hydrothermal systems, distinct from the lead/zinc-dominated corridor elsewhere on the licences.
The results provide early validation of Botswana Minerals’ AI-driven exploration strategy and will shape the next phase of work, which will include geophysical surveys and additional geochemical sampling aimed at advancing priority targets towards drilling.
The company holds an extensive land position of approximately 7,000 km² in the Damaran Belt, a region considered prospective for multiple deposit styles, alongside high-priority diamond prospective licences.
“The AI analysis of our database has continued to deliver insights. Further work has identified two large-scale mineral systems, one prospective for copper, the second for lead/zinc, which will focus our next phase of exploration as we advance towards defining drilling targets,” concluded John Teeling, Chairperson of Botswana Minerals.
