Effective 1 July 2024, Lucara Diamond Corp. has announced the appointment of Dr. Lauren Freeman as Vice President, Mineral Resources. Freeman, a renowned specialist in large Type II diamonds, brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the mining industry. Her expertise encompasses mineral resource estimation, diamond value management, diamond pricing, geological modelling and strategic mine planning.
She has held senior positions at leading diamond mining and resource consulting firms, where she successfully led teams responsible for resource definition and underground expansion projects. Freeman holds a PhD in Economic Geology and a GDE in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and is a registered Professional Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions.

In her new role, Freeman will oversee all aspects of mineral resource management for Lucara’s flagship Karowe mine in Botswana. She will play a critical role in driving the Company’s overall development strategy, ensuring the effective and sustainable extraction of mineral resources.
