The newly appointed Board of Directors of the Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) has begun its mandate with a strategic engagement with the Ministry of Minerals and Energy, focused on strengthening the company’s contribution to Botswana’s diamond economy.
Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, met the new ODC Board, led by Board Chairman Yoram Dvash, as part of the Board’s induction programme. The engagement centred on Government’s priorities for the diamond sector and the need to strengthen ODC’s capacity to deliver greater economic value from Botswana’s diamond resources.
Discussions also covered ODC’s strategic mandate, sustainable growth and opportunities to maximise the national benefits derived from the country’s diamond resources. The engagement provided a platform to align the Board’s direction with Government’s broader vision for a resilient, competitive and sustainable minerals sector.
The renewed engagement comes as the company begins a new chapter under its newly appointed Board, placing greater emphasis on strategic alignment, sustainable growth and value creation. The Ministry said it remains committed to strengthening strategic partnerships with its entities and ensuring that Botswana’s mineral resources are managed responsibly and leveraged to support sustainable economic development.
